Our Grandpa (Boppa as we call him) came to visit us in Gaeta, Italy. I was excited to start our two-week adventure at sea with our first guest! It was hard fitting in another person but we made it work. We decided Boppa would take my brother’s room and Ezra would stay with me. It was hard, but we managed. The first place we went was the island of Ponza. We went on our first swim together, checked out caves, and saw some cool animals. Last but not least, we snorkeled over a shipwreck in one of the coves, it was amazing. After a few day exploring the island of Ponza, we sailed over to the island of Ischia. A highlight of Ischia was touring the medieval castle of Aragonese. Did you know that there is a torture device called the rack that would pull people’s legs and arms apart, yeah crazy! There was a whole room dedicated to the different types of torture devices they used on people back then. The next day we sailed across the bay of Naples so we could visit the ancient ruins of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, it was one of the coolest ruins I’ve ever seen. I will remember that forever.
After that, we sailed around the Sorrento peninsula to theĀ famous Amalfi coast. The weather was beautiful but the anchorages were very rough and rolly. We mostly explored on land so we didn’t have to worry about it much except during the night. We visited the town of Positano. My mom told us she had visited the same town when she was in college and never imagined being there again someday with her family. After walking the stairs to the top of the town, we had amazing gelato as a reward. The next day we decided to sail down the coast to the town of Amalfi. We hiked the Path of the Gods trail, one of the world’s best hikes in my opinion. We took a bus on a windy road from Almafi to the trailhead and hiked to Positano. We took a ferry back to the boat and immediately fell asleep, it was a long but great day! We woke in the middle of the night to a large swell that came into our anchorage ahead of a storm. No one could sleep so my mom and dad decided to pull anchor and sail across the bay to get to the port of Agropoli, a much calmer anchorage. We spent the next day getting gelato and having fun shopping and hanging out with Boppa. The next day we woke up, had pizza for lunch, and went to the Greek ruins of Paestum. We even got to see Neptune’s temple! Sadly our time with our Boppa had come to an end. We went out to a special dinner and I had one of the best pasta meals in the world! We said goodnight and goodbye on the dock, it was sad but now we have so many great memories with him from our trip. Thank you so much Boppa for staying two weeks with us on the one and only Farfelu! We had so much fun showing you what our life is like sailing around the Med.

How awesome! You all look great and happy and I love hearing of your adventures! Tally Ho! Gma
